What a great week.
The weather was really harm here. Birds were tweeting and clouds went off. It gave me the envy to relax in front of my mantel piece. What a spot guys !! A friendly fire with beautiful ambers... this is life ! Therefore I decided to have a nice glass and right here, right now .. comes the Château d'Yquem 2002.
Sounds good isn't it? Sure it does and the taste is as high as the reputation of the Domaine. The 2002 is not eclipsing my Yquem reference point, the 1921. But both were unctuous, thick, extraordinarily complex wines with remarkable quantities of botrytised, honeyed fruit that dominated their aromatics and flavors. When you have some drops on your tongue it gives you a come back to centuries ago, at a time where Bordeaux was still under the British crown. This Grand Cru Classé from Sauterne is like an asteroid in the Space Odyssey. What I mean is like you can feel the power to age and to overcome decades. This time capsule refers to a vintage not easy for a lot of wine markers and Châteaux. Perhaps, the Yquem trick is "au rendez-vous" with this incredible potential. Believe me, things are not the way they were before after some drops.
Some people (like you?) are used to drink sodas in their sofas watching tv or whatever like.. This is so boring guys. How my life looks like ? Like a drop of Yquem 2002 in a glass after swirling : it's falling with beauty, it's falling with rage but it won't disappear.
